Intel adds two new Atoms for netbooks

| Sunday, April 12, 2009

Intel Wednesday presented two new processors of atom for the devices of Internet mobile, or MIDS, such as netbooks, and showed a platform Atom-based nearest of netbook which it indicated cut significantly the use of power.

The processor of atom actuates several of the GCV of netbook which proved popular these last years, like Asus 's Eee. The request is such as, in March, Intel announced that it would begin the production of atom of provisioning outside to manufacture Co (TSMC) of semiconductor of Taiwan in order to increase the piece the 'availability of S.

The two new processors, Z550 and Z515, include improvements of execution. Z550 functions with 2GHz - fastest however for a piece of atom - and supports Hyper-Threading, a technology conceived to make it possible more calculations to be carried out in parallel. The piece is the processor of high-execution functioning with three Watts below power, Intel indicated.

Z515 is aimed preserving the power in the material with the small ones and light factors of form. It employs execution called a exploded view of technology which enables him to function with 1.2GHz when more an high efficiency is necessary, for short periods.

Also Wednesday, Intel 'managing director Anand Chandrasekher of group of mobility of S ultra carried out the first demonstration of Moorestown during a keynote speech with the forum of realizer of Intel in Beijing. Moorestown is a whole Atom-based of platform for the release the next year.

While idling, the platform employs 10 times less power than Intel 'platform Atom-based current of S, Intel indicated. This is carried out by the use of novel methods of power-management and a more advanced manufacturing process, the company indicated.

Moorestown comprises a system-on-a-piece which has a core of processor of built atom using Intel 'process of S 45nm. This is integrated with graphs, memory and the visual controller and a hub of input-output.
